Bleaching (tooth whitening)
There are several types of tooth whitening offered to our patients.
Our most popular type of whitening is ZOOM ! . This is laser whitening
technique that gives our patients desired results in one easy appointment.
Home whitening is another choice for patients who have discipline
and time. In both cases, molds of your teeth will be made. Then
a special tray will be fabricated to custom fit your mouth. The
ZOOM! trays will be given to our patient at the end of the laser
whitening to use with a rehydrating gel and for whitening touch
up as patient chooses. The home trays will be given to our patients
with instructions on how to place the safe, effective whitening
gel in their tray. Most home whitening patients wear their trays
at night for about three weeks to get their optimum results. The
last way to whitening teeth are using "whitening strips"
usually purchased through a local retailer.
ENAMEL
SHAPING (ODONTOPLASTY)
This is an easy and painless way to smooth rough edges or small
chips on your teeth. Enamel shaping can also be used to level out
teeth with slightly uneven lengths or create rounder or sharper
angles depending on the desired result.
Bonding
Bonding is a technique we use to restore decayed tooth structure,
defective restorations and chipped or broken teeth. This material
is a natural colored resin which is bonded to existing enamel to
provide an esthetic alternative to "silver fillings".
Bonding can usually be done in one appointment. Whether or not bonding
is a good choice for you depends on the size and part of your tooth
that needs restoration.
Veneers
A porcelain veneer is a thin, custom made covering that conceals
the front and side surfaces of your tooth. Veneers can enhance teeth
that are severely discolored, damaged, misaligned, or poorly shaped.
A major benefit of veneers is tooth conservation: little enamel
is removed in the preparation for your new veneer. The choice to
do veneers is the most esthetic and durable of cosmetic options
and can be accomplished in one or two visits to the office.
Implants
The new millennium brings with it the dental technological marvel
of implant dentistry. A healthy smile plays a role in the way you
look and feel, but millions of people are affected by a change in
appearance and health due to missing teeth. Dental implants are
small screws made of titanium, a metal well accepted by the body
and documented for its ability to heal together with your bone tissues.
The implant is surgically placed within the bone where the tooth
or teeth were lost acting as an artificial root. Four to six months
later, the missing tooth is then replaced with a wonderful new tooth
which fits onto the dental implant. Teeth which have been lost can
now be replaced without removable appliances (partial dentures)
or fixed bridges. Then there is not a need to grind down healthy
adjacent teeth or utilizing clasps to hold an appliance in place.
Even if you are missing all your teeth, implant overdentures can
offer many benefits over traditional dentures.
Crowns & Bridges
Yes, Dr. Barbaro believes in these too! Because full crowns cover
your entire tooth, they often provide a good solution for severe
problems or permanent coverage for a root canal treated tooth that
is more brittle since the loss of it’s internal blood supply. A
crown or bridge is usually made from gold, other metal, porcelain,
ceramics or a combination of these materials and are very durable
so replacements are needed less often. You can complete your new
restoration in one to three appointments depending on materials
chosen and number of teeth being restored.
